Ron Melendi’s Trip to Mexico

Cancun Casa Magna

It’s that time again for another T.A.A. convention. What is the T.A.A.? Well it’s the Tobacconist Association of America and it’s being held this year at the Casa Magna resort in Cancun Mexico.

So far my trip has been great. Other than waiting over an hour to get through customs I enjoyed a relaxing first day and am now getting ready to go down to the first meeting this morning. I’ll keep you all posted.

Art prices under pressure, but goodwill is plentiful

Posted by migrantblogger on November 2, 2008

Art, cigars and charity came together at the exclusive Grand Havana Room on October 15, 2008. Close to 70 guests paid $425 to attend the 2008 God of Fire Charity Dinner, with proceeds benefiting the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, and earn the right to bid on a bronze sculpture of Prometheus crafted by New York artist Julio Aguilera. The event—organized jointly by Randall Denman of the Grand Havana Room, Ron Melendi of local tobacconist De La Concha, Keith Park of Prometheus and Carlito Fuente, of the company that bears his family’s name—had created a unique laboratory in which to determine art’s resistance to financial market forces.
The story continues with a photo after the jump.
