A full house welcomed Avo at De la Concha earlier this month. The genius behind the Avo Campanero attended the cigar dinner to celebrate his brand, show his appreciation to the smokers who enjoy his work … and play a little music. More than 30 guests filled the store to enjoy a full meal catered by nearby restaurant Rue 57 and an open bar tended by a former Miss Tennessee (2006).

This was the first in-store event after the summer, kicking off what is likely to be a busy fall at De La Concha. With that in mind, let us know what types of event you’d like to attend of the rest of the year – we’re always looking for ideas.

Finally, we’d like to thank Davidoff and Avo for the generous cigar donations to a group of Marines from North Carolina that are headed into one of the world’s hot spots (sorry, can’t supply any more details). De La Concha is pleased to welcome cigar great Jesus Fuego for this September 22nd HC event. This very special tasting will take place from noon until 7:00pm.

Jesus Fuego and Xikar have joined forces to create a very special cigar series that has already proven itself by many repeat sales and a 92 rating in Cigar Aficionado in the current issue. The HC Connecticut Shade uses a Connecticut Shade-Ecuador wrapper, a Sumatra binder and filler from Costa Rica, Mexico and Nicaragua. This mild-medium smoke is slightly stronger than the average Connecticut Shade cigar, but stays true to a Connecticut’s character.

The HC Criollo is a perfectly balanced medium-bodied cigar. The dark, Shade Grown Criollo Nicaraguan wrapper is aged 4 years. The binder is a sun-grown Nicaraguan and the filler is from Honduras and Nicaragua.

The HC Habano Colorado uses a Habano-Colorado Nicaraguan wrapper, rich with a beautiful cocoa color, producing a smooth, rich medium-full smoke. Combining a Nicaraguan binder and filler from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras, this smoke has just a hint of sweetness with chocolate notes.

On September 22 we will have a tasting of these fine cigars. When you purchase 3 HC cigars you will receive 1 complimentary HC cigar. Also, we will offer 25% off any Xikar accessory.
